骨疏無明顯病徵

眾所同知,停經婦女及長者,骨質流失速度均較常人快,每年高達3%,為常人的六倍。另長期缺乏負重或戶外運動、吸煙、酗酒、飲用過量濃茶或咖啡,或患有風濕性關節炎、甲亢,以及服用類固醇、甲狀腺荷爾蒙藥物等人士,均可導致骨質疏鬆。江醫生:「曾有名四十多歲女病人,常抱怨腰背痛,着我幫其檢查骨質。其實腰痠背痛並不代表有骨質疏鬆,此症並無明顯病徵,惟透過造影檢查方可斷症。同時,即使長者並無腰背痠痛,也不等於其骨質健康無礙。」

很多人誤會服食鈣片可預防骨質疏鬆,事實上骨骼組成並非單靠鈣質,而應配合多種微量元素如鎂、鋅、錳等。因此不應過分依賴服用鈣片,均衡飲食和足夠運動,更有助加強骨質。「但如病情嚴重,則極可能需要服用雙磷酸鹽改善骨質。」
